Things I learnt from Hilary Clinton
I watched the whole US Presidential debate this morning (AWST). I was supposed to be working (it’s OK, I didn’t bill anyone for the time), and I don’t even live or have a right to vote in America. But I could not look away.
The media has been full of Trump’s buffoonery, but I would like to see some airtime given to the absolutely astounding display of competence we saw from Hilary Clinton.
She never lost her cool.
She stayed on message and got her policies out faced with a lying, bullying, narcissistic mansplainer who interrupted her (fact) 51 times in 90 minutes.
She not only stayed on point, she recognised and called out every ridiculous rhetorical trick as he pulled them.
I’m an experienced negotiator. I have been negotiating large-scale, complex deals for twenty years. If I ever got as good as Hilary Clinton was today in front of 1.3M people, I would be proud.
It’s said that a woman “has to be ten times better than a man to get the same job”. Based on today, I would like to think that won’t be a problem.
(BTW, you can tell from his face that the handshake is really hurting right now…)
